Islam and Honor Killing-man Kills his daughter in Jordan for wearing makeup

Charged for honor killing

AMMAN (Jordan) - PROSECUTORS have charged a man and his two sons for the premeditated murder of his 19-year-old daughter on Saturday, in the latest honor killing to take place in this conservative desert kingdom.
The man and his two sons are charged with beating to death the daughter for leaving the house in make up and talking to a strange man, according to prosecutor Salah al-Taleb's indictment sheet.

The father brought his daughter to the hospital after she lost consciousness and turned himself in.

Autopsy showed severe injuries to the head which caused brain hemorrhage and the body was covered with bruises.

If convicted the man could be sentenced to life in jail.

75 year old widowed woman sentenced to 40 lashes and 4 months in prison in Saudi Arabia for having a nonrelated man deliver her bread.

Attention all Saudi women: If you need assistance of any kind, you are on your own. The government of Saudi Arabia made this clear to all women residing in their country when, late last month, it chose to arrest a 75-year-old widowed woman for being in the company of unrelated males who were simply helping her.

In an embarrassing display of law enforcement, the Saudi government convicted and sentenced the widow to 40 lashes and four months imprisonment for mingling with her late husband's 24-year-old nephew and his friend, after she had asked them to deliver some bread to her house. (Since her husband's death, she often asks others for help. The Saudi government claims that she has sinned.)

Saudi Arabia has become infamous for its religious police (known by the Arabic word "mutaween"), who have the power to arrest unrelated men and women caught socializing, seize products regarded as "un-Islamic" and enforce Islamic dress codes and dietary laws. In March 2002, they forcibly barred schoolgirls from escaping a burning school in Mecca because the girls were not wearing head scarves and black coats. Consequently, 15 girls died and 50 were injured.

Under Saudi Arabia's strict interpretation of Islamic Sharia law, women face severe discrimination, particularly in matters like education, employment and the justice system. Although they make up 70% of university enrollment, women comprise only 5% of the Saudi workforce. They cannot travel abroad, be admitted into a hospital, be examined by a doctor or leave the house without permission or in the company of an immediate male relative.

Women particularly face discrimination in the Saudi legal system. In 2007, seven men abducted a teenage woman and an unrelated man from a mall in Saudi Arabia and raped her. The seven men were sentenced to two to nine years in prison, but the woman was also convicted of breaking the law by not having a male guardian with her and for being alone with an unrelated male. She was the victim but was still sentenced to six months in prison and 200 lashes. Where is the justice in that?

Radical Islam is a fact of life !!!

This title got my attention during a hotel stay as i was in the hotel lobby and noticed this title but in Arabic on the cover of Newsweek magazine, "Radical Islam Is A Fact Of Life. How To Live With It" , so I started thinking, do we really have to live with it or do we need to fight it and eliminate it, whats the best way to handle radical islam, I wished there was an easy answer to this question, the problem is that radical and extreme islam is growing so much that it is no longer a minority or limted to small groups. In fact I can say that most muslims are becoming radical ,extreme and fanatic in one way or another. Terrorism is not the only face of radical islam, but one of many faces. Based on judging muslims behavior and based on daily dealings and interactions with muslims, u feel that the majority is moving towards radicalism, extreme and fanaticism, I am sure many have noticed it as well and not only in the middle east but also in Europe and the USA and the entire west.
Now back to the Newsweek article or title, we all know radical islam is a fact of life now, there is no doubt in anyone's mind, but again I am questioning if we have to live with it. Do we just ignore it and let these radicals take over? or do we fight them and create more of them, I guess both scenarios have risks associated with them, but what is the bigger risk, to ignore them or to fight them?

As these radicals are everywhere and they have no reason to slow down, its unfortunate that most muslims support these radicals and thats what makes them stronger. Its unfortunate that muslims do not realize the risk of backing these groups and they always provided cover and justification for their actions.

I guess I am going to leave this article with an open ending to allow everyone to post his opinion, I think it is important to get feedback and different opinions on how to handle this problem that threatens all of us and it can impact us any time and any day,no one is shielded from this threat including muslims themselves, but the question is do they realize that.

I welcome your comments and feedback.

A journey with the Religion of Peace

I simply want to take you on a journey with the religion of peace starting point from Eastern Europe to the far east of Asia , lets call it a tour, or a geography lesson but the main purpose is to show if Islam is a religion of peace indeed? and i am going to focus on cities that start with the letter "B" so fasten your seat belts or should i say put on your bullet proof vest and enjoy this trip,

Belgrade former Yugoslavia is our first stop, now after the war and the Muslim Bosnian and Christian Serbs fight and now trying to get independence for Kosovo, we all know the violent history and what happened to this country

Bislan is the second stop and everyone knows what the muslim Chechen had done there, they held up a school with the children present, and then they massacred 334 people including 186 children

Beirut is our third stop we know what this country went through from wars Muslims vs Christians and now hizballah controls this beautiful country and what was considered christian at one time, Beirut was once the center for civilization in the middle east, until the Syrians, the Palestinians and then Hizboallah moved in and made it ruins.

Baghdad is our fourth stop, we know this is a war zone and no not the Americans but sunnis and shiaats, Iraq vs. Iran, Iraq invasion of Kuwait, as you see it muslim vs muslim violence, this was also once a christian country the Assyrian kingdom and once Chaldean were living in peace before islam, I wonder how many Christians are still living in this country?

Bethlehem is our 5th stop, once the holiest town for Christians and still is this where the nativity church is and the birth place of Jesus, ,we all remember the armed muslims that took refuge in the church and were fighting the israelis, now Bethlehem is mostly muslim and this was once all christian, now christians are minority, less than 5%.

Bishawer پشاور Pakistan is our 6th stop , this is the Disneyland for terrorists and alqaida charity organization, we all know what this town is all about, terror and violence , extreme and fanatic muslims. maybe a good picture of the 7th century, u get the picture.

Bali Indonesia is our 7th stop, this is the country with the largest muslim population in the world, we also have heard and seen the terror attacks that claimed the lives of 202 people in the Bali terror attacks in 2002

Bombay (Mumbai) is the 8th and last stop and we know how many attacks were done by muslims extremists on Hindus . and the latest attacks on Mumbai in 2008.

I hope you enjoyed this trip / journey, this 8 cities tour gave u an idea if the religion of peace is indeed the religion of peace we always hear about, you be the judge.

Can you imagine if we go through the entire alphabet from A-Z how much violence, how much terror and how much death can we credit to the religion of peace?

I hope you enjoyed your trip.
